Itinerary
- Guest Pickup
• Time: Pickup begins at 8:15 AM with departure around 8:30 AM. You will be notified of the exact time the day before.
• Location: Downtown Anchorage Visitors Center, 546 W 4th Ave - Drive to Matanuska Glacier
• Duration: 2-hour scenic drive.
Experience the scenic drive through snow-covered terrain, mountains, and frozen rivers of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, with potential wildlife sightings such as moose or eagles. - Glacier Hike & Exploration
• Duration: Approximately 2.5-hour hike.
Upon arrival at Matanuska Glacier, your guide will provide safety equipment, including crampons for icy terrain. Explore the glacier’s crevasses, ice caves, and stunning frozen formations while learning about the glacier’s history and geology. The beauty of the glacier covered in snow will leave you speechless, so be sure to capture the memories with your camera. - Return to Anchorage
• Departure: Approximately 3:00 PM.
After a day of glacier exploration, head back to Anchorage, reflecting on the incredible views and winter beauty. You will be dropped off at the original pickup point around 5:00 PM.
Meeting Location
- Pickup Location: Downtown Anchorage Visitors Center, 546 W 4th Ave
- Where to Park: The best place to park is the garage between “A” and “C” Street, across from Downtown Avis. This is ideal because you pay at the toll gate, so if we are delayed on the return, you won’t get a ticket.
- If Your Driver is Late: If your driver hasn’t arrived by the scheduled time, please text us (instead of calling). Calling before the scheduled time can cause unnecessary delays.
- Restroom Info: Restrooms will not be available for about an hour after boarding, so please use the facilities beforehand to ensure your comfort.
