How It All Began
Alaska’s Finest Tours & Adventures (AFTA) was born from a deep love of travel, a commitment to community, and a calling to share Alaska’s beauty through an authentic Native perspective.
Our founder, Ben, spent nearly a decade working in the airline and cruise industries before launching his own business. What began with a single 7-passenger Honda van has grown into a thriving local company with a full fleet of Ford and Mercedes-Benz vans, offering unforgettable tours across Anchorage and beyond.
Ben saw a gap in the tour industry: too many companies focused on volume over connection. Guests were missing the deeper stories of this land, especially those rooted in Alaska Native history and culture. Alaska’s Finest Tours & Adventures was created to change that.
Our Mission
To deliver unforgettable, culture-rich adventures that honor the land and stories of Alaska’s first people: while setting the standard for hospitality, service, and guest care across the state.
What Sets Us Apart
We’re not just a tour company: we’re your local hosts, storytellers, and stewards of the land. Our team is deeply local and our goal is always anticipate your needs before they arise and ensure every moment is seamless, safe, and engaging.
As a 100% Alaska Native-owned business, we are proud to weave heritage and hospitality into every mile of your journey.
Our Values
- Excellence – We plan for smooth operations so you can relax and enjoy every moment.
- Connection – We share the stories that matter: from Native history to hidden local gems.
- Respect – For our land, our guests, and the diverse cultures that call Alaska home.
- Community – We’re invested in Anchorage. Our mural, garden, and iconic Dall sheep statue, Anuali, have transformed a once-overlooked corner into a destination of meaning and beauty.
Annuali
At Alaska’s Finest Tours & Adventures, this powerful Dall sheep sculpture is more than a photo stop; it’s a tribute to mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and the ongoing journey of healing. Placed here by AFTA’s founder, Ben, Anuali is a personal response to loss. After seeing the sculpture in the yard of a local artist, Jordan Anderson, whose art was inspired by a similar story. Ben immediately knew this piece could be a tribute and a solace to those who might need it.
Anuali was placed for the ones left behind. For those carrying unanswered questions, quiet sorrow, or invisible burdens. He stands as a silent companion, and a signal that someone out there cares. His presence offers grounding, strength, and connection: to the land, to each other, and to the idea that healing is possible. His name, meaning a life fully lived, stands in conversation with Denali, The Great One, together representing Native strength, reverence, and endurance.
Anuali also serves as a visual reminder: to check in, to speak up, and to treasure life: yours, and the lives of those around you.
